Abstract:
     This scan and receiving method with laser scanner is especially suitable for the in-line detection of defects on the surface of cold rolled steel band. A divergent scan mode is used to form a straight scan line and more than three photomultiplier tubes above the steel band and at its both side simultaneously receive the scattered light directly from the surface of steel band. Through processing the electric signal which is the sum of output signals from three channels, the defects of steel band, such as crack, hole, or double skins, may be in-line detected.
