Abstract:
    A method and device (1) for quality controlling packets (2) of cigarettes, whereby, as a packet (2) is fed, in use, through a quality control station (29; 30), an optical detecting unit (27; 28) acquires data relative to given portions (15; 37) of the packet (2), which portions (15; 37) are coated with material optically detectable at wavelengths outside the visible range; the data detected by the optical detecting unit (27; 28) is compared with reference data, and the outcome of the comparison is used to determine acceptance or rejection of the packet (2); in this way, the condition of the packet (2) can be determined regardless of the graphics on the packet (2).
