Abstract:
The invention provides a droplet discharge method by which a discharge position of a functional liquid can be easily regulated, an electro-optical apparatus, and an electronic instrument. Droplet-discharged parts 18 are arranged in a matrix form. When droplets of a liquid material 111 are to be discharged, the droplets are discharged and spotted on regions other than regions between spotted areas 200 previously coated by spotting with the liquid material 111 and neighboring the matrices in the row direction (e.g., Y direction in the figure 11) and in the column direction (e.g., X direction in the figure). Specifically, droplets of the liquid material 111, which are newly discharged, are spotted, so as to avoid the previously coated areas 200 to be coated again via spotting. Hence, no fine regulation is required for spotting a liquid material on regions between the spotted areas 200 so as to fill such areas. Furthermore, it becomes extremely easier to adjust positions to which droplets of the liquid material 111 are spotted. Uneven formation of the film (each layer of a color filter 16) of the liquid material 111 can also be avoided.
