Abstract:
    The invention relates to the production of cigarettes, during which tobacco lengths (10) are successively separated from a continuously driven tobacco strand (11) by means of a blade organ (15) that comprises blades (17). The tobacco strand (11) is held by cutting tubes (18) in the vicinity of the separation cut. Several cutting tubes are fed to the tobacco strand (11) by a rotatable gear mechanism (21). The cutting tubes (18) can be displaced by a planetary gear drive (29). In addition, all the cutting tubes (18) can be adjusted together to modify the rotational speed.
