Abstract:
     The present invention concerned with a process for expansion of tobacco, in which the to bacco is processed by a expansion agent comprising two kinds of organic compounds, one of them being volatile, nonpolar, basically unsoluble in water and of 1 to 8 carbons atoms, another being volatile soluble in water, oxygen-containing and more polarity than the that of the first and of 1 to 6 carbons atoms. The compounds are compatible under liquid state respectively. The expansion agent can be removed from the processed tobacco by heating or reducing the pressure.
