Abstract:
The present invention provides an adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) method for data transmission by various modulation orders and coding rates is provided. Firstly a signal-to-noise ratio of a transmission channel is estimated; then quality of service parameters are provided, defining maximum allowable delay and packet error rate; a retransmission limit is determined from the maximum allowable delay, and an optimum packet length is determined based on the quality of service parameters and the signal-to-noise ratio; a modulation order and a coding rate most suitable for the estimated signal-to-noise ratio and the defined packet error rate are selected based on the optimum packet length and the retransmission limit. According to the present invention, the information in the media access control layer and in the entity layer can combine with each other to improve the transmission capacity becauce the packet length, the optimum modulation order, and the coding rate all have functional relationship with the signal-to-noise ratio. The establishment of a threshold table can also save the calculating resource of processor.
