Abstract:
    A motor drive semiconductor devic is fomed by resin-sealing one or more semiconductor chips in one package. The semiconductor device includes six switching elements for driving the three-phase motor, three output terminals for applying an output voltage to each of three terminals of a coil of the three-phase motor, driving circuits of the six switching elements and input terminals of six control signals for on/off-controlling the six switching elements respectively, and the motor drive semiconductor device further includes a part or entirety of a current polarity detection circuit for detecting a current polarity of a phase current of the three-phase motor and outputting a current polarity signal and a current polarity signal output terminal for outputting the current polarity signal (VUP) from the motor drive semiconductor device to outside. Thereby, reduction in torque ripple of a motor by a sine wave drive method and high-efficiency operation of the motor by current phase control can be simultaneously realized.
