Abstract:
    To provide an actuator which can perform stabilized drive control not relying upon the position of a driven member by bonding a rod-like drive friction member to one side of an electromechanical conversion element in a telescopic direction and varying the cross-section of the drive friction member intersecting the longitudinal direction perpendicularly in the longitudinal direction. The actuator 34 comprises a piezoelectric element 42, a rod-like drive shaft 44 fixed to one side of the piezoelectric element 42 in the telescopic direction, and a driven member 46 engaged with the drive shaft 44. The drive shaft 44 has a circular cross-section intersecting the longitudinal direction perpendicularly and that cross-section deforms in the longitudinal direction.
