Abstract:
    The present invention discloses a switching regulator and a method to provide a soft start for a switching regulator. The switching regulator comprises an error amplifier, a compensatory capacitor, a trigger, a comparator and a bias current regulative circuit. The method including: a feedback voltage of monitor regulator; when regulator is prohibited, subcooled boiled or overheated, undervoltage or overvoltage, providing closure signal to reset the trigger; responding the closure signal to make the compensatory capacitor discharged; comparing the feedback voltage with the first normal voltage by the comparator, if the feedback voltage is higher than the first normal voltage, the comparator output signal set the trigger; responding signals output by the feedback voltage and the trigger, regulating bias current of the error amplifier by the bias current regulative circuit. On account of the error amplifier always works at closed loop, the invention enables a smooth transition from the soft start to normal operation.
