Abstract:
    The invention relates to a spark plug (10) which is used to ignite an air-fuel mixture in a combustion chamber (29) of an internal combustion engine. The spark plug (10) comprises at least one ground electrode (31) which is fixed to the housing (21), and one insulator (22) which is arranged inside the housing (21) and which is provided with a longitudinal bore (23) which extends along a longitudinal axis (25) of the spark plug (10) and wherein a central electrode (41), comprising an electrode base body (42) and a precious metal section (43) is arranged. The precious metal section (43) is fixed on a combustion-chamber- sided front surface (42a) of the electrode base body (42). The precious metal section (43) is annular shaped and protrudes above the electrode base body (42) along the longitudinal axis (25) of the spark plug (10) in the direction of the combustion chamber (29).
