Abstract:
     A spark plug having sufficient wear resistance is disclosed wherein separation of a chip is prevented without increasing the nickel content in the chip portion. Also disclosed is a use thereof. Specifically disclosed is a spark plug (100) comprising an outside electrode (10) having a electrode main body (11) and a chip (12) joined to the electrode main body (11) and a center electrode (20). The chip (12) is arranged opposite to the front end of the center electrode (20) via a spark discharge gap (G) therebetween. The electrode main body (11) is composed of a nickel alloy containing 13-18 mass% of Cr, 0.03-0.08 mass% of C, 1-3.5 mass% of Mo, 0-0.8 mass% of Si, Al Mn and Ti in total, and not less than 68 mass% of Ni, and the chip (12) is composed of a platinum alloy containing 0-4 mass% of Ni.
