Abstract:
     The present invention comprising a face plate, a black matrix carbon layer formed on an inner surface of the face plate, a film containing aluminium oxide as a main component formed on the inner surface of the face plate so as to cover the carbon layer, and a phosphor layer formed on the film. According to the invention, there is no possibility that the carbon layer is burnt and whitened during the baking step irrespective of reduced thickness of the carbon layer, thereby providing a high definition cathode-ray tube with high quality.
