| The present invention relates to the use of magnetic sensitive principle in the thickness measurement of various coating or plating. The measuring apparatus mainly consists of a magnetic sensor, an excitative source and a measurement amplifier. It can measure the thickness of a mono-or multilayered, magnetic or nonmagnetic coating or plating in the coating or plating process. The present invention utilizes the surface stress effect of magnetic materials, i.e. the primary magnetic conductivity decreases regularly with the increase of the coating or plating thickness and the increase of the surface contraction stress. The above said process is an elastically reversible one, the primary magnetic conductivity will restore its original value. The said apparatus may also measure the stress on the substrate in the coating or plating process and its changing rate, and monitor the corrosion process of a coating or plating. | |||
