Abstract:
This invention refers to carbon anode used for making aluminium in the electrolytic bath of hall-Heroult process. The anode is connected to the input of positive current through at least one steel conductor, the lower part of which is connected to the carbon electrode and the upper part is connected to the positive terminal. The upper part of the conductor extends al least more than 30% of the total length, and the cross sectional area should be less than 60% of that of the lower part. The structure of the upper part may be a reduced cross section of solid or tube. This invention can be applied on the precalcination or continuous calcination of the anode. The actual gain exceeds the voltage drop of the anode system.
