Abstract:
     The present invention relates to manufacture of manganese products by electrolytic metallurgy with manganese chloride solution as electrolyte. It involves selection of electrolyte, separating wall in electrolyzer and operation conditions. Anode liquid contains 125.8-188.7 g/l manganese dichloride, cathode liquid contains 88-151g/l manganese dichloride, 100-140g/l ammonium chloride and selenium-containing additive. Acidity (at anode 0.1-0.6M, at catode PH5-3) is regulated by hydrogen chloride acid. Anode is made of carbon and cathode is titanium or stainless steel. Current density: anode 150-400 amp/sq.m, cathode 600-1200 amp/sq.m. Electro-lysis temp.: anode 80-100 deg.C, cathode less than 70 deg.C. Separating wall is made of ion-separating membrane and porous material. The invention is useful to manufacture metallic manganese and manganese dioxide concurrently.
