| This invention provides a method for producing lithium-containing alumina. The proposed process comprises mixing of bauxite, lime and spodumene with caustic soda solution into a slurry, leaching under high pressure, separating the liquid phase from the solid residue, decomposing the leach liquor and separating the precipitates from the solution. The lithiumcontaining alumina is obtained by calcination of the precipitates. Since this invention, designed specifically for direct production of electrolytic aluminium, may eliminate the process for making lithium carbonate, the production cost of aluminium can be lowered by 50-62.5% due to reduction of the expenses on lithium carbonate, and the electric energy consumption can be reduced by 500kwh per ton of aluminium produced.
