Abstract:
The present invention refers to a method for the production of cathod carbon block used in Al electrolytic bath. It uses calcined anthracite, metallurgical coke, crushed graphite ( or scale graphite ) as skeleton material and bitumen as binder, which are blended and shaped, then heated to 1100-1380 deg. C within 280-360 hr. in roaster ( pref. 1250-1350 deg.C ), and again heated to 1800-2300 deg.C (pref. 1900-2150 deg.C) in resistance furnace for semi-graphitization and finally built into finished product with desired shape.
