Abstract:
    A membrane unit for use in an electrolytic cell comprising a combination of a membrane material and a reinforce meterial which is applied only on the gasket-bearing surface of the membrane material. Damage to the gasket-bearing surface of the membrane structure is minimized when the membrane unit is employed in, for example, electrolytic cells of the filter press-type.
