Abstract:
    The present invention provides the cathodes. which consist of an electrically conductive substrate carrying a coating based on an oxide of a metal of the platinum group in combination with an oxide of a nonprecious metal of group VIII of the Periodic Classification. The cathodes are particularly suitable for use in cells for the electrolysis of water or of aqueous solutions of alkali metal halides, cells employing the membrane technology.
