Abstract:
     This process can be used in case-hardening of Zn-Al parts of various complicated structure to improve their wear-resistance. There is an excellent binding force between the plated layer and the base metal. The surface hardness of the plated parts may reach HV is not less than 600 kg/mm2. The principal feature of this invention is to apply chemical plating of nickel after electrical pre-plating of nickel without activation treatment. This causes a self-catalyzing process of chemically plated nickel on the pre-plated nickel and makes the chemical nickel plating proceed smoothly. This invention consists of three steps: 1. pre-treatment by sand blasting and submerging corrosion; 2. pre-electrical plating of nickel; and 3. chemical plating of nickel.
