Abstract:
The solvent extractive group separation of ion-adsorbing rare earth ores comprising mainly light rare-earths, by ammoniated EHEHPA is one of hydrometallurgy solvent extraction processes. The 20-45% (1-1.7M) ammoniated EHEHPA-kerosene scrubbing liquid and 0.8-5N/HCl reverse-extracting acid are used to extract rare earth from aqueous solution of chloride of ion-adsorbing rare earth ore, the main constituents of which are light rare-earths. The concentration of chloride is 1-2M. Experiment is carried out in separatory funnels of 90-120 stages to simulate the separation of groups by cascade extraction. By group separation of Nd-Sm, La-Ce, Tb-Dy, the light, middle and heavy rare earths so obtained are (Ce, Pr, Nd), (Sm, Ea, Gd, Tb, Dy) and rich (Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Y), respectively, and La2O3 of purity higher than 99.97% and recovery higher than 99% is obtained.
