Abstract:
     The process of this invention is used primarily for manafacture of plate spring for vehicles and other machinery springs. Through controlling the contents of elements C, Si, Mn and B, the traditional limitation that allows the silicomanganese spring steel to be hardened only by oil and used in the condition of tempered troostite structure, has been overcome by the present process silicomanganese spring steel is treated by water hardening and low temperature tempering to produce martensitic structure. Therefor the spring steel has general mechanical properties of high strength and good toughness. use of water hardening not only saves oil and electricity, but also reduces environmental contamination.
