| This invention concerns the heat treatment process of iron and steel. High temperature deformation heat treatment, and high temperature tempering are used for previous heat treating of the piece block, while low temperature quenching and low temperature tempering are used as the final heat treatment of workpieces. The uneven distribution of the carbides in tne die steel of high carbon, high chromium series, after this treatment, can be reduced by 3-4 grades. The secondary carbide becomes significantly finer. Because the steel gets a hidden crystal structure with deformed crystal lattice of martensite as its main part, both strength and toughness of the steel increase a great deal simultaneously. | |||
