Abstract:
Nodular cast iron, which contains Ni 1-2%, Mn 0.3-0.8%, Mo 0.3-0.8%, Cu 1-1.5%, rare earth elements 0.001-0.03%, and Si, Mg, S, P, C, etc. in regular amount, is heated up to austenitic transition temp. and annealed, then cooled by controllable gas flow to 550-590 deg.C and 300-320 deg.C at cooling rates of 10-40 deg.C/min. and 45-55 dge.C/min. respectively. The temp. of the nodular cast iron is kept in a range 320-250 deg.C for at least 90 min, and then cooled freely in atmosphere to room temp.. This nodular cast iron is reheated to 300-320 deg.C, so as to raise its breaking strength by about 13-17%, its impact toughness by more than 30%, and its percentage elongation by a little.
