Abstract:
This invention concerns a fast annealing process under a catalytic atmosphere applicable to malleable cast iron and the preparation of the related catalyst. The catalyst used here is an organic substance made by a process comprising carbonification, hydrolyzation, neutralization, air-drying and blending. This catalyst changes the graphitization of the mallcable cast iron under annealing from holding twice at high and low temp. respectively to one single holding step and reduces the annealing temp. from 930-980 deg.C to 830-890 deg.C. The annealing time of the cast iron is greatly reduced with the advantages of low energy consumption, low cost and better machinability after annealing. The catalyst of this invention can be widely used in the annealing processes of malleable cast iron, gray cast iron and alloy steel.
