Abstract:
     The furnace of this invention consists of two furnace shells connected by removable water-cooling exhaust pipes, exhaust shift and dust-removal system, and a set of secondary short-circuit network capable of furnishing electric-arc heat separately to each furnace shell. The high-temp. exhaust enters another shell by a shortest way to preheat waste steel to more than 400 deg.c. The power and electrode consumption per ton of steel may be reduced by 80 kwh and about 1 kg respectively, the time efficiency of the transformer may reach 0.95. The smelting time is reduced by 20~30% and the productivity is increased by 30~40%. The power factor and electrical efficiency may be the highest attainable, while the power unbalance of three phases may be the lowest attainable.
