| This invention concerns the steel for hyperpressure containers, used to make thick walled hyper-pressure containers subject to working pressure of above 1000 ky/cm2. Aiming at the disadvantage of the CrNiMo series and CrNiMoV series steel for hyperpressure containers of having low toughness as its strength and wall thickness increase, decrease of carbon and increase of nickel in the steel composition are adopted to increase hardenability characteristics of large cross section. By normaliring, hardening and tempering as final treatment, steels with high strength and toughness for hyperpressure containers are made. Its tangential stress 6s is no less than 110 kg/mm2, impact toughness no less than 6 kg.m/cm2 and Kic no less than 400 kg/mm3/2. | |||
