Abstract: |
|||
| This invention provides a method using spheroidal graphite to produce cast-iron, using metallic Mg to treat the molten iron. By adding Ca2Si, the sulphur in MgS, which is an unstable compound and exists in slag, is changed into a stable compound, the CaS, and this prevents the sulphur released from MgS in a longer life to return to the melt and to react with the Mg released, and recombine into new MgS. Through the decomposition of sulphur in the slag, resulfurization is effectively prevented. The longer residence time of slag atop the melt may serve as an heat insulator, therefore the production conditions may be preserved for a longer life. | |||
