Abstract:
    In the process for cooling oxygen injection tuyères, having at least one cooling jacket, in the oxygen treatment of pig iron or steel in a metallurgical vessel, for example a bottom-blowing converter, Siemens-Martin furnace or electric furnace, a cooling fluid is passed through the cooling jacket. The cooling fluid used is a molten metal and this is circulated via a heat exchanger to remove the heat absorbed in the oxygen injection tuyère.
