Abstract:
     The present invention relates to a process for producting pig iron using coal-containg spheric agglomerates, shaped coal or low-quality coal as starting material in a shaft furnace provided with a number of blast tuyeres, without using any smelter coke entirely. The coal-containg spheric agglomerates were moulded by the cold pressing using binder prepared from organic and inorganic binders, and were directly charged into the furnace after drying at low temperature. The furnace was provided with two or three of bosh tuyeres with spheric, elliptic or rectanglar section, the hight of the tuyeres is less than that of an ordinary furnace. Hot-air was used in course of metallugical operation.
