Abstract:
The apparatus used by this method is mainly composed of horizontal or vertical forehearth, vertical after-hearth, small bottom vehicle of after-hearth, preheater and heat exchanger. The raw material to be used is a coal-containing ball body composed of iron ore powder, coal powder, binder and fusion agent. The ball bodies preheated by preheater are charged into after-hearth for pre-reduction. Consequently they are further reduced and molten in the small bottom vehicle. Finally, the super heat and final reduction are conducted in forehearth and the slags are separated from molten iron. The method has such advantages as less investment, high productivity, wide adaptability of its raw material and low cost and is suitable for middle or small scale iron-smelting industry.
