Abstract:
     A process for hydrolyzing hemi-cellulose includes such steps as breaking-down the hemi-cellulose matrix, pretreating by immersing it in 8-20% concentrated acid in mass ratio of 1:(10-20) at 15-35 deg.C for 10-18 hr, and hydrolyzing in ordinary steam. Its advantages include greatly increased concentration of reducing sugar in hydrolyzed liquid and light transmittance of hydrolyzed liquid, and less consumptions of steam and decolouring agent.
