Abstract:
     This procedure is to be used in the purification of seepage juice from beets in manufacturing sugar. To overcome the shortcomings existed in the current procedures, lime consumption in large quantity of big condensed granules of preloaded lime, small surface for adhesion, it is suggested in this procedure that the seepage juice should be passed through a static mixer first, then mixed with the monocarbide unfiltered juice which flowed back into the static mixer. There the juice is alkalified mildly to pH 8-9, and the juice remains in the front part of thelime preloader for 10-15 minutes after dewatering. Then put in lime gradually until the pH value reaches 10.8-11.2 -. By this procedure, lime consumption could be lessened considerably. The purity and thermal stability of syrup are both enhanced. The calcium concentration and colourity in syrup are lowered, and the time needed for boiling is shortened.
