Abstract:
During direct fermentation of starch by xanthomonas campestris NK-01 bacteria, yield of polysaccharides is often influenced by the difference in nitrogen sources and inorganic salts. By using soya-been cake powder and fish meal as nitrogen source, and CaCO3 as inorganic salt, the starch medium prepared is capable of producing polysaccharides 22.4-26g/l after 72 hours of fermentation, and the viscosity of the fermentation liquor goes up to 7800-1 1000 cp, far surpassing those using other nitrogen sources and inorganic salts (like K2HPO4).
