Abstract:
     The present invention refers to a process and apparatus for two-stage fermentation of corn starch contg. waste water. The high conc. corn starch contg. waste water containing sulfate and sulfite is treated by two-stage fermentation through two-stage upflow anaerobic sludge bed reactors, then returning high conc. rich in methane coccus and mature sludge from second stage UASB reactor to first stage UASB reactor, thus increasing treatment capability of first stage reactor and reducing the amount of alkaline added. The process and apparatus of the present invention has COD removal rate of 90-93%, COD total volume of 14-20 kg/m3.d, and high gas yield.
