Abstract: |
|||
| The technology of this invention falls into the category of those for recovery of refined essential oils by steam distillation. Prior to steam distillation with steam supplied from a boiler, the laurel branches and leaves are first subjected to mechanical disintegration and then soaking in sodium chloride solution to accelerate the liberation of laurel oil. A multi-tubular type oil separator with large surface area is designed for the separation of laurel oil from the oil-water emulsion. Comparing with the prior technology, the new technology of this invention can give 50 to 100% more oil yield while the aldehyde content of the laurel oil increases up to 97% against the former level of 90%. Supply of steam from a boiler is necessary for commercialized production with the heating efficiency of the fuel increased twofolds. | |||
