Abstract:
     The present invention refers to a one-step method, using turmeric, a Chinese medicine, as raw material, to produce three products: curcumin, a natural pigment used as food additive, curcuma oil, a natural flavouring; and zedoary alcohol, an anticancer. The method is based on the physical and chemical properties of the components in the curcumin and curcuma oil to develop a solvent process. The products quality meets the requirements (1986) of FAO and WHO.
