Abstract:
    A lubricating oil composition which comprises a base oil for a lubricating oil and an additive component mainly consisting of (A) a specific alkali metal salicylate or alkaline earth metal salicylate and/or a (over-)basic salt thereof, (B) a phosphorus-containing abrasion inhibitor, (C) a non-ash dispersing agent and (D) a non-ash antioxidant, wherein the composition has a boron content of 0.01 to 0.15 mass % and a total sulfur content of 0.3 mass % or less.
