Abstract:
A lubricant for forming a lubrication layer having a high sticking property capable of suppressing any migration even at a high-speed rotation of 5,400 rpm or over as well as enabling prevention of fly-stiction trouble, corrosion trouble, etc., even at an extremely small flying height of 10 nm or less, especially for forming a lubrication layer suitable for a load unload system; and a relevant magnetic disk. A lubricant containing at least a perfluorinated polyether is deaerated and purified. Alternatively, a liquid lubricant containing at least a perfluorinated polyether is vaporized, and vaporized perfluorinated polyether molecules are liquefied in a distance within the average free path thereof to thereby accomplish purification of the lubricant. A film of the obtained lubricant is formed on a magnetic disk having formation of up to a carbon base protective layer on a substrate carried out on the protective layer, thereby providing a lubrication layer. Thus, there is obtained a magnetic disk. This lubricant for magnetic disk contains a perfluorinated polyether, exhibiting a molecular weight dispersity of 1.3 or below.
