Abstract:
     The high octane M60 fuel is a blend composed of a middle distillate of petroleum refinery, methanol and some additives. This M60 fuel, which contains 60% methanol, is a lead-free fuel with an octane number exceeding 90 and can be used as an carburator engine fuel to replace the gasoline of 85 octane number. The M60 fuel shows excellent performance during the engine dynamometer test with less contamination due to the engine exhausts than gasoline, and the worldwide troubles of lead poisoning can thus be solved. The poisonous effect of M60 fuel as verified by the biochemical test is less than 0.21 that of gasoline. Since the world oil reserves will probably deplete in 45 years and other new energy sources may not be available yet on a commercial scale, this invention is of more strategic importance. The M60 fuel of this invention is an ideal, inexpensive fuel of abundant supply for energy saving high compression engines, which seems to be a trend for motor vehicles modifications ........
