Abstract:
This invention concerns a modification process of antifreezing emulsions. All emulsions obtained from polyvinylacetate, vinylacetate copolymers, and polyacrylic esters can not stand the low temperatures. Adding ethylene glycol or glycerine makes no evident improvement to effect the freezing point lowering, but reduces the binding ability. Nevertheless, emulsions obtained by adding polyvinyl acetals as an emulsifier have satisfactory antifreezing properties, for example, when polyvinyl formal is added to polyvinyl acetate emulscion, the final product can be kept at -30 deg.C for a long time or repeatedly melted and frozen at -30 to -40 deg.C without changing its antifreezing properties.
