Abstract:
     The invention refers to a nontoxic polyurethane adhesive and its prepn. method. It takes as the main component the prepolymerised polyester modified by aliphatic diisocyanates or satd. cyclic diisocyanates and made into a liq. form, while the curing agent is made from the reaction of polyhydroxy-cpd. with aliphatic diisocyanates or satd. cyclic diisocyanates. The free isocyanate content in the said adhesive is less than 30 ppm. If it is used as the adhesive for composite packings of foodstuffs, no toxic aromatic amines will be produced even after high temp. hydrolysis. The said adhesive shows good performance in service, high adhesive strength, high toughness, and resistances to low temp. Besides, it is safe and nontoxic, and may serve as an updated product to replace the old type polyurethane adhesives.
