Abstract:
     This method adopts a semi-closed cycle which consists of condensation and condensation polymerization. The intermediate prod. formal is firstly obtained by the continuous condensation of methyl alcohol and formaldehyde. Then it is mixed with phenol and the condensation polymerization is carried out in acidic medium. No phenol-containing waste water will be produced, and one of the side prods, methyl alcohol can be reused for producing formal, while the other, phenol, for the raw material for resin synthesis. The intermediate prod. formal will have a putity of more than 92%, and the phenol resin yielding will attain 98% or more.
