Abstract: |
|||
| The invention relates to processes for separating acids from other compounds in solution utilizing ampholytic base polymers in chromatographic-type separations. Preferred processes are conducted in continuous contacting apparatuses and involve the establishment of separation and elution zones to provide acid product streams of high purity and concentration. Preferred processes achieve the purification of citric acid from its admixture with one or more sugars such as glucose under substantially isothermal conditions. | |||
