Abstract:
This invention deals with a method for using Chinese alpine rush as raw material to make nifro cellulose. The cellulose is refined by pre-treatment of hydrolysis and saponification, and then nitrated with mixed nitric and sulphuric acid. Because resin is used as the saponifying agent, the hygroscopicity of the refined Chinese alpine rush cellulose may increase 2-3 times, the time for nitration may be shortened greatly and the output of production raised. The cost of production may decrease by 21% as compared with the case of using short cotton velvet as raw material. The nitrocellulose made from Chinese alpine rush may be used for making lacquer, celluloid, table tennis ball and some military articles. The refined Chinese alpine rush cellulose may take the place of cotton cellulose for various applications.
