    Controlled depolymerisation of natural polyanions, esp. nucleic acids and glycosaminoglycans, comprises generating free radicals by reaction of H2O2 and ferrous salts as basic. The reaction can be stopped rapidly on an arbitrary selective level beforehand at any time by adding a free-radical scavenger.
