Abstract:
     This invention covers the method of preparation of selenide of carragheen. The selenide of carragheen is a hydrosol form of carragheen which is formed after partial substitution of sulfur in the molecule by selenium under strong acidic condition with the formation of the ester of selenic acid having C-Se-H structure due to ring opening at the C-1 site of the terminal unit of 3,6-inner ether-D-galactose, Animal test suggest that the selenide of carragheen has merely negligible poisonous effect which is several hundredth of that of currently available optimal selenide, i.e, sodium selenite. The said selenide of carragheen, which has revtaled good bioapplicability and physiological benefits, has broad prospects in the area of health protection and clinical practice.
