Abstract:
     According to this invention, chitin and its derivative (for example, chitosan), which are extracted from the crust of crustacean (shrimp, crab, etc.), are used as the filter medium in water clarifier or other water-clarifying equipment. It has an obvious advantage superior to activated carbon in the adsorption of heavy metals, organic acids and protein kind of substances (e.g. bacteria).
