Abstract:
A method for the recovery of somatotropin, in particular a fragment of somatotropin, from dilute aqueous solutions comprising adding to the aqueous solution a salt of transition metal to form an insoluble complex with the somatotropin. The insoluble complex may be separated from the solution, by either centrifugation or filtration, and dried by conventional methods such as lyophilization or removal of water at low temperatures under vacuum. The method results in the recovery of a dried bioactive somatotropin.
