| This invention concerns a method of preparation of crystalline xylose. The raw sugar cane bagasse is treated by water and after dehydration, the dehydiated product is hydrolyzed in presence of an acid catalyst. The liquid product of hydrolysis is passed through a cation exchanger a decolorizer filled with granular activated carbon, and an anion exchanger, and then concentrated to a syrup. This syrup is filtered for removing the precipitates and again subjected to decolorization by passing through a decolorizing column filled with granular activated carbon. The decolored filtrate is then evaporated to supersaturation. The high purity crystalline xylose is finally separated by crystallization from the supersaturated solution. | |||
